Neal Boortz is a Fucking Idiot

One night last week, I was flipping channels and I stopped on Larry King for literally 90 seconds. He had two conservative radio show hosts -- one of whom was Neal Boortz and I can't remember who the other asshole was -- and two liberal radio show hosts, Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller. Anyway, Larry asked some question about civil war in Iraq and that complete fucking idiot Boortz somehow wound up contending that the American Civil War was not a civil war because Jefferson Davis had no intention of taking over the country; it was, Boortz farted, a war between the states. What a fucking idiot. And hey Neal about this "Fair Tax" bullshit which is actually the same tired old flat tax crap -- here's a tip: a flat tax is not fair.

Proof?

I yelled at the TV twice tonight when Tim Russert on the NBC nightly news and Dana Milbank on Olbermann's show both pontificated that Democrats were upset about John Kerry's remarks. Neither one cited any proof -- did not mention a single Democrat who said such a thing. They just pulled this assertion out of their butts. What a sad state journalism is in -- these pundits are not journalists, really, they are "analysts" -- but they are basing their analysis not on facts but on emanations from their assholes. Which is what they are.

The Google

Olbermann played a clip last night of Bush being asked if he used Google and the answer was "Yes, sometimes I use the Google." On the Internets, I presume.

More Radio Weirdness

My new job is just on the edge of the coverage area of the local radio station that carries Air America and other liberal shows. Coming from the other side of the metro area is a station on almost the same frequency that carries right wing nuts. So if I go out at lunch time, I hear Al Franken and Rush Limbaugh at the same time. Fortunately, Rush is barely audible in the background. Still, its a very strange radio experience.

Increasingly Lame NPR

I stopped listening to NPR about two years ago. With pseudo right wingers like Mara Liaison and Juan Williams and Barbara Haggerty and that old lush and totally irrevelant Cokie Roberts, it was just a joke. But in the last month or so, I started listening every once in awhile. Only to almost immediately hear that moronic Mara Liaison making excuses for the Republicans. Deja vu all over again.

Then today I heard Robert Siegel interviewing Christopher Hill, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, and the head of the U.S. delegation at the six-party talks with North Korea. Not once in this lengthy inteview did Siegel challenge Hill on the fact that Bush's idiotic policies led directly to North Korea testing a nuke (if indeed they did).

Read this for some background on how Bush has fucked this up, too.

BTW, I saw a bumper sticker today on a big ol' pick-up truck that looked like those weird black square stickers that had a big W on it and The President underneath, but this one had a big F and The President. Made me laugh out loud.

Good Meme

From a TPM reader:

Don't you think that Republicans attacking Pelosi and CREW and bloggers over Foley is just like attacking Iraq when you know the crime was done by bin Laden? There they go again, Republicans attacking the wrong people when everyone knows who did the crime.

Buck O'Neil

The legendary Negro League player Buck O'Neil has died at age 94. Most of us know him from Ken Burn's PBS documentary Baseball. I saw O'Neil once speak at a PBS meeting. He noted how when he was a young man he would not have been allowed to enter the hotel where the meeting was being held via the front door but would instead of had to come in the back door -- and he saw it as a major advancement that in his lifetime, he could not only enter the hotel by the front door but speak in front of all of us gathered at that meeting, people of all races living and working together. It was very touching. I also remember Ken Burns getting up and hinting that Buck should wrap it up and Buck waved him away saying something like he'd earned his moment up there! It was great. Rest in Peace, Buck.

Liar Liar

Hastert is a dead man walking on Capitol Hill. What a corrupt bunch of maroons.

GOP urged Foley to run even AFTER they learned of inappropriate emails.

Power before anything and everything is the way with these bastards.
